Dolce Vista on the Lower East Side

Equestrian chic.

On an ambiguously misty day in September, one hardly knows what to wear. That is, of course, unless it is a loose-fitting sweatshirt-tee hybrid paired with sandy-colored skinny jeans. Knee high boots befit the occasion as well, although perhaps more so had they been color-coordinated with the purse. An even more intriguing option would be to ditch the bag and take this look from equestrian chic to downtown cool with a dash of color from a bright neon Cambridge Satchel.

Dolce Vista in Nolita

Bonnie and Clyde à la mode.

We met this fashionable couple during a weekend jaunt to Nolita. Our red-haired Lolita perfectly rebels from the deceptively sweet vintage floral by boldly donning a studded black bag. Of couse, we need to give a shout-out to her arm candy also, who looks far too cool for school with his expertly-chosen shades and modified members only jacket.

Dolce Vista at Rebecca Taylor

Fashion at the feast.

In a pleasantly uncomfortable state after one too many zeppole at the San Gennaro Festival, we took a break from the feast to pop into the nearby Rebecca Taylor shop. Among the reasons that we count this designer among our much-beloved are her classic silhouettes with a flirty feminine twist. Above we see the lovely ladies of Rebecca Taylor in her designs - thanks to these girls for always making an alreday fun shopping experience even more enjoyable! Well, we're off to throw on our new "Runway Colorblock Coat," featuring tweed to the waist and fur below!

Dolce Vista by meg shops

Self-expression at St. Marks Square.

Spotted outside meg's 9th St. store on this balmy Monday afternoon. We were taken by the Lennon-esque sunglasses and general nonchalance. There seems to be a case of the forgotten pants, though.

Cuore Di Moda presents...meg

 individuality

understated feminine allure

                                               clean

timeless

quality

On a jaunt to one of meg's shops, you are likely to come upon eponymous owner Meghan Kinney. The East Village store was her literally her first home base, where she both lived and designed. As the brand grew, though, meg expanded to Williamsburg and to her native Canada. A visitor to the shop is guaranteed personal attention in choosing a unique piece that she can wear for years. In fact, meg or one of her few trusted assistants will tailor the clothes on site. When we last visited, Maria made the final measurements for a customer on a smoky blue one-shouldered dress to wear to a wedding in Nice. We were equally covetous of both the dress and the event! These feelings were soon happily assuaged when we walked out with our own meg ensemble.

Dolce Vista at Dagny + Barstow

Casually elegant.

Perusing the racks at the Dagny + Barstow pop-up shop at 64 Gansevoort Street, we were lost in a sartorial reverie that transformed into a Dolce Vista when we noticed the look worn by co-owner Emily Titelman (pictured above). Emily donned an Aviu hand-beaded cardigan, a 10 Corso Colombo white t-shirt, J brand jeans, and Fiorentini and Baker boots.

Emily in the same ensemble but swapping the Aviu for a Swash bomber jacket!

Dolce Vista - Lincoln Center New York Fashion Week Gone Vintage

Simply chic.

We spotted this effortlessly stylish look outside the tents at Lincoln Center. Who would have guessed that this is a dress from the Salvation Army and a borrowed belt?

Improvd Spring 2012 Presentation at Lincoln Center New York Fashion Week

The air vibrated with anticipation as the room fell dark. Suddenly, blue light slashed violently through the obscurity and the Improvd presentation began.

Act I. An introduction to avant-garde couture.
The models emerged in expertly draped clothing constructed from high quality and beautifully hued material.

Act II. Amplified avant-garde couture.
Bolder colors and basket-woven leather filled the room. Feminine allure redefined as simultaneously palpable yet imperceptible.

Act III. A new world.

Springtime bloomed with an unexpected and previously unknown beauty at the Improvd show.

Improvd can be found at Jessie James, a boutique located in NYC's West Village and in Hoboken. The boutique's knowledgeable staffers are extremely helpful and the clothing is carefully curated.

Katie Ermilio Presentation

Timeless design using sumptuous fabrics and candy colors.

In fact, these designs are so alluring that men and women alike stopped in their tracks on the sidewalks to peer in and admire. We hope that Katie Ermilio, the granddaughter of Grace Kelly's personal clothier, continues to bring classic beauty with a hint of Monaco sparkle to her clothing.

In the crowd at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

We admired headwear galore, bright colors, and vintage pieces paired with ombre hair and purple lipstick...

We tore at our clothes to mimic these deconstructed looks...

And we were inspired by color with this Tracy Reese top matched with purple harem pants.

Stay tuned for much more from Fashion Week to come! More photos available on StyleShifter's Facebook page.

Joy Cioci Spring/Summer 2012 - New York Fashion Week

Easy glamour was the mood at the Joy Cioci show last night, both in the crowd and on the stage. Our favorite creations were the silk chiffon blue ruffle gown and the silk crepe lilac wrap (both pictued above). Surrounded by these breezy pastels, we imagined ourselves donning these designs as the scent of flowers begins to fill the air.
